A comparison between Kepa and Edouard Mendy

Kepa cost around 88 million dollars, Mendy cost around 26 million. There is a big difference in price between those two guys. Kepa is Spanish, Mendy comes from Senegal. There are many differences between these two guys, but one thing that is not different is the position they play. Goalkeeper. One of the most difficult positions mentally, as you are they last line when you play there. If you play well, you may get nominated for the Ballon d'Or, play poorly you will receive more criticism than almost anyone. It is tough. Kepa coming off a horrible year and Mendy coming off a year with the French surprise team Stade Rennais. So lets look at the stats.
Kepa: Kepa has come off a frankly horrendous year for Chelsea's defense in general. Chelsea conceded a total of 54 goals in the Premier League. That is the most goals conceded until 11th placed Southampton. It is honestly shameful and yet they still finished 4th. In the Premier League last year Kepa played 33 out of the 38 games. Kepa held 8 clean sheets, and conceded 48 goals. This means in the 25 games he conceded goals in he conceded nearly 2 a game. When he concedes it gets bad often.
Mendy: Stade Rennais finished third in Ligue 1 and were real standouts. They are not a team you expect to see up there, and have never even won Ligue 1. Mendy has been ripped from them and for good reason as Rennes was tied for the second least goals conceded that year. Of course the Ligue 1 season was cut short but that does not change the fact that the stats are great. In the 24 games Mendy appeared in, he conceded only 19 goals and kept 9 clean sheets. Not to shabby at all.
You may bring up the point that the level of competition is different, and I do not really know how to answer that point but I mean one of the best Goalkeepers now in the Premier League Hugo Lloris played at Lyon, and he turned out fine. Even guys like Ederson have starting jobs and he was brought in from Benfica in Liga NOS.
Kepa's mental health will probably just decrease more from this move which is unfortunate and I sincerely hope he finds another place to work but Chelsea have moved on from the guy they thought was their future. I mean they seriously committed to him, you can tell with the contract they signed which was 7 years long according to Tranfermarket. It will be a tough pill to swallow with the significant loss of money, as they have no chance of getting anything close to what they paid for him when he leaves.
Mendy also is better physical goalkeeper as he is taller and that will hopefully help. Oh and by the way their contracts expire on the same day. That is absolutely insane. I wish Mendy the best of luck at Chelsea and Kepa more luck elsewhere.
